Neuroaxonal dystrophy is a set of genetic biotrophy's that affect various areas of the brain.
Biotrophy refers to a loss of function caused by the deterioration of cells or tissues for unknown reasons.
The age at onset varies by breed, but in cats, it is usually about five weeks.
Symptoms vary depending on which area of the brain is affected and may include uncoordinated motions, an anomaly in limb positioning when walking, mild head and neck tremor, and other neurological signs and symptoms.

A complete blood count (CBC), biochemistry profile, and urinalysis are the common laboratory exams.
Typically, the findings of these basic laboratory tests fall within normal ranges.
Neuroaxonal dystrophy is typically diagnosed through differential diagnosis.
That is until the right cause of the ailment is determined, other diseases and disorders are excluded.
